> · Negotiates and reviews digital resource licenses and user
> agreements to ensure their compliance with established standards,
> requirements, best practices and copyright guidelines

> · Serves as lead negotiator with publishers and vendors to
> ensure that licenses are created or modified to be acceptable for use
> in UCR Libraries

> · Ensures that terms and conditions in signed licenses are
> clearly communicated to UCR authorized users and staff via the LMS

> · Maintains documentation on electronic resources, including
> license agreements, and tracks details such as number of users,
> administrative passwords, electronic subscription information, and
> digital preservation policy within the UCR Libraries and CDL

> · Coordinates the gathering of data on electronic resource
> usage with Acquisitions, Electronic Resources Coordinator and
> Information Technology staff; assists the Electronic Resources

> · Serves as UCR Libraries' advisor regarding the use and
> creation of copyrighted works. Answers questions about copyright,
> provides advice about compliance and addresses compliance issues as

> copyright laws, cases and practices

> · Provides information to faculty, staff and students regarding

> · Participates as a lead member of the Scholarly Communications
> team in development of scholarly communication programs, forums and
> events related to relevant issues and trends impacting the UCR campus

> · Identifies potential e-Scholarship resources on the UCR
> campus and work with faculty to transition this material to e-Scholarship

> · With the AUL for Collections and Scholarly Communications,
> advises faculty and staff on scholarly communication matters

> · Monitors trends in scholarly communication, including open access

> · Provides outreach to faculty, librarians, staff and students
> on scholarly communication issues

> · Participates in appropriate library, university, regional and
> national committees and programs

> · Develops and maintains a scholarly communications website for

> Qualifications:

> * Masters degree from an American Library Association (ALA)
> accredited program or equivalent or JD degree; both degrees
> highly desirable
> * Demonstrated experience negotiating electronic resource license
> agreements
> * Knowledge of publisher's online journal pricing policies and
> business models.
> * Strong negotiating skills and ability to articulate the
> Libraries' position in licensing and copyright management
> discussions
> * Demonstrated ability to analyze written information and business
> offers and make sound, logical, and independent
> recommendations/decisions based on knowledge of UCR Libraries
> policies and procedures
> * Strong, independent, analytical and problem-solving skills
> * Demonstrated knowledge of statutory, case, and contract law,
> with a specialization in copyright. Familiarity with Federal
> regulations as they pertain to intellectual property and
> copyright. Knowledge of intellectual property rights
> * Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with the copyright
> policies and policy options for academic institutions
> * Leadership and activity or interest in national organizations
> related to copyright and licensing, including ALA, ACRL, and
> ARL. Familiarity with or activity in Library of Congress' Round
> Tables on orphan works and Section 108 as well as the National
