The University of Georgia Libraries seeks an experienced, innovative, and 
service-oriented individual to lead the newly formed Acquisitions and 
Serials Services Department merged from the two formerly separate 
departments of Serials and Acquisitions.



The successful candidate will play a key role in providing strategic and 
effective management for the department and will lead the department in the 
prompt and cost effective procurement of materials and resources in all 
formats for the UGA Libraries. The Department Head is responsible for all 
operations and services of the department and provides successful 
management in planning, organizing, and implementing its work by 
establishing goals and objectives which complement and support those of 
other departments and the Libraries.  The UGA Libraries use the ExLibris 
Voyager ILS, the SFX link resolver, and the Verde ERM system.



The Head has responsibility for management of the Libraries’ materials 
budget, acquisitions workflows, managing DLC copy cataloging for 
monographs, management of vendor relations, and maintaining access to 
electronic subscriptions.  The Head reports to the University Librarian and 
Associate Provost and is responsible for the work of one librarian, 
twenty-one support staff, and student workers.
