Attention Interested Vendors!

Here is an opportunity to become involved in ALA and host an open
discussion between library staff and vendors. The Automated
Acquisitions/In-Process Control Systems Discussion Group is a discussion
group within the Acquisitions Section of ALCTS (Association for Library
Collections and Technical Services). The discussion group was created to
provide an open forum for the discussion of the development and
implementation of automated acquisitions/in-process control system in
libraries, plus issues surrounding their use.

Our discussion group rotates the Chair position between libraries and
vendors. I am the Vice- Chair and will begin my one-year Chairmanship
after the ALA Annual Conference in June. During the June conference we
hope to announce a new Vice-Chair who will become Chair after the annual
conference in June 2008. The new Vice-Chair will be someone from the
vendor community.

Responsibilities of the Chair include identifying a topic for discussion at
the MidWinter and Annual Conferences, finding a knowledgeable person(s) to
help lead the discussion, request a room, necessary equipment, and a
meeting time from ALA, promote the meeting to the ALCTS membership,
moderate the discussion, and submit a report after the meeting.

More detailed information on our discussion group can be found here:

If you are interested in being nominated for Vice-Chair during the Annual
Conference in June, please contact the current Chair, Dan Miller
