Description of duties, responsibilities and qualifications:
The University Library at Appalachian State University invites
applications from innovative and proactive individuals to join a
library seeking excellence. The position is that of a collection
manager-teacher. The successful candidate will reach out to the
faculty and students, on campus and off campus, in the assigned
disciplines to build focused, high-quality collections and will
instruct in the use of scholarly resources. The librarian will have
principal responsibilities as a member of the Collection Development
Team and contribute actively to the work of the Reference &
Instruction Team.
The Library strongly encourages applications from members of ethnic

principally African American, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans and
Asian Americans.
This twelve-month tenure track position will be available in the
summer of 2007. The position may be filled at the Instructor,
Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor ranks. Rank as an
Assistant or Associate Professor and continued employment beyond the
Instructor term requires an advanced degree in addition to the MLS.
Salary and rank are determined on the basis of qualifications and
experience
