Keynote Presentation:
*Confessions of a Literary Editor* by Martin Levin, books editor of
the Globe and Mail.

Martin Levin has been the Books editor of the Globe and Mail since
1996, having been its ideas columnist for three years.  Before that, his
journalistically varied, even chequered, career, included stints as
editor of The Jewish Post and Seniors Today in Winnipeg, of Innings, a
serious baseball publication in Toronto and as a publications manager
for Southam.  He is also a contributor to several books, most recently
as an essayist for What I Meant to Say...., a collection of essays by
men.  His ambition know is to see a play he has co-written about
famously terrible film director Ed Wood, be produced.

Plus a panel discussion: Demystifying Open Access Journals

Open access advocate Heather Morrison will present a brief overview
of what collections librarians need to know about open access
journals:  what they are, how many, how to include them in our
collections, business models, and library support for open access
journals.  Jason Charron, Acting Director for CISTI's Business
Affairs,
will explain why NRC Research Press has has taken a pragmatic approach
to Open Access.
Registration fees (unchanged since 2004) for the pre-conference are:
CLA Collections Development and Management Interest Group  (CDMIG)
Members: $80
CLA members: $100 (Non-members of CDMIG)
Non-CLA members: $125
Registration includes a morning coffee break (kindly sponsored by
Midwest Library Services), lunch (kindly sponsored by YBP Library
Services), and an afternoon coffee break (kindly sponsored by Coutts
Library Services).  Registration also includes bus service from the
Delta St. Johns to the INCO Centre and back.
