Associate Director for Scholarly Resources and Collections

The Marriott Library has created a new position of Associate Director
for Scholarly Resources and Collections as the result of the
implementation of a new organizational structure. This position will
lead the re-imagining of collection development and technical services
to refocus priorities on digital resources, strategies, and services.
We also seek to increase technical services support for our exceptional
special collections. This position is part of a strong and committed
leadership team. The Marriott Library is positioned to lead the
university and the region in supporting new forms of scholarship and
changing scholarly communication models. To advance an ambitious

Areas of responsibility include acquisition of materials, the
Institutional Repository, cataloging and metadata services, collection
development and management, scholarly communications, and preservation.
The organization of these areas is still evolving as we proceed with
our organizational review.
Qualifications:
* ALA-accredited MLS
* 8 years of experience in a management position with increasing
responsibility
* Strong evidence of leadership capabilities and outcomes
* Demonstrated ability to foster and work effectively within a climate
of collaboration and creativity
* Ability to formulate and carry out innovative approaches to services
* Ability to communicate new approaches and ideas to a wide range of
audiences
* Skilled in integrating processes and implementing new technologies to
improve services
* Ability to meet University requirements for tenure
We are moving quickly to new models of service and leadership. This
position offers the opportunity to be a national leader in transforming
libraries. Partnerships on campus are strong, and this position will
identify and cement new relationships. With student computing labs, the
Technology Assisted Curriculum Center, and the University Press under
the responsibilities of the library, we are able to integrate many
aspects of research and learning. Our institutional repository has
garnered much interest on campus and this position will lead its
development. We participate in Libqual surveys and have an active
assessment program. We also manage programs for the Utah Academic
Library Consortium such as the Mountain West Digital Library, which
includes the internationally known collection of Utah Digital
Newspapers.
Salary and Benefits - $90,000 minimum commensurate with qualifications.
Excellent benefits including TIAA-CREF (14.2% university contribution),
medical, dental, 25 days of annual vacation, 12 days sick leave, and
eligibility for sabbatical and professional development time.
