Assistant Director for Collections and Scholarly Communications: 
Comprehensive research university library in exciting, affordable city, 
seeks candidates with energy, creativity, flexibility, and strong 
commitment to collections and public service.

·       Works closely with the faculty to provide information resources in 
support of the teaching and research at UMKC.

·       Participates on the library administrative team in strategic 
planning to support the Libraries’ service mission.

·       Pursues library supported professional development.

Library highlights include an up-to-date multimedia library instruction 
laboratory and an award winning Information Commons/Reference area, and 
extensive special collections, including the Marr Sound Archives. These 
collections focus on trans-Mississippi and local history as well as rare 
and unique materials and the American experience as reflected in recorded 
sound.

Successful candidates will have an opportunity to participate in planning 
for a new expansion of the library and integrated learning center. Report 
to Associate Dean of Libraries

Minimum requirements:

·       ALA-accredited MLS ·       Exceptional interpersonal, communication 
skills ·       Ability to work positively, productively with diverse 
constituencies in environment of rapid change ·       Strong public service 
commitment ·       Minimum of 5 years of successful, current experience 
with collection development.  ·       Successful, current experience with 
electronic library resources and digital libraries. ·       Evidence of 
mature judgment ·       Evidence of professional initiative 
·       Understanding of scholarly research environment and scholarly 
communications process.  ·       Potential to meet promotion requirements 
in non-tenure track appointment

Preferred:

·       Additional graduate degree  ·       Successful, current experience 
with

o       Digital library technologies o       Metadata o       Preservation
