Saginaw Valley State University invites applications and nominations
for the new position of Head of Collection Development & Acquisitions
(formerly Head of Technical Services & Systems).
Job Summary:
Manages the Collection Development & Acquisitions Department, which
includes Acquisitions, Cataloging, and Serials operations.
Provides leadership in the development of the library's collections and
the acquisition of information resources in all formats; formulates and
promotes collection policies and programs that support the teaching and
research needs of the university community.
Manages the library acquisitions budget; prepares fund allocations.
Plays lead role in working with library staff to select, evaluate and
maintain subscriptions to electronic resources; monitors and evaluates
group purchasing opportunities and vendor trials.
Evaluates resources in all formats and uses assessment results in
establishing collection development priorities and fund allocations.
Supervises administrative/professional and support staff; develops
policies and procedures; plans and implements changes to improve
departmental operations.
Serves as subject liaison to academic departments; provides assistance
to users at the Reference Desk.
