Last year, we weeded the print editions of the Gale CA due to space
issues. It didn't affect students or reference. We kept the print index
as reference uses this a lot with questions and it's very handy to just
pull out and who the students. The index is also available on their
website? However, we just began a subscription to the Ebsco Literary
Reference Center as it's half the cost of the Gale Literature database.
The faculty all seem to like Ebsco in their initial review, and said to
go ahead and drop our subscription to Gale. So, we are trying this out
for a one year "wait and see" as to how the students and faculty use
this. Also, we still subscribe to other Gale literature print products.

I think your policy about a title's availability in two databases in
commendable; I find that most of our electronic journal titles are
available in at least two databases.

As far as a specific policy, we don't yet have one as we are trying to
be as flexible as possible. I do believe, though, of the importance of a
policy that allows a library to delete a print publication when the
electronic version is available due to space and duplication issues.

Hopefully, by the end of the year, we will have a policy in place.
