The Landman Library at Arcadia University seeks a motivated,
detail-oriented individual for Head of Collection Development.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Library Systems and Technology,
the Head of Collection Development provides leadership in the
direction and organization of the Library collection. The candidate
serves as System Administrator for the Library’s integrated online
system (Unicorn-SirsiDynix) and is responsible for original material
cataloging and supervises the classification of all materials. The
Head of Collection Development manages the library materials budget
and will work collaboratively with faculty in the acquisitions of
materials. The candidate is responsible for the review and purchase of
online bibliographic databases and actively participates in the
development and performance of the Library’s programs, policies, and
teams.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
ALA accredited MLS; 3-5 years experience in an academic or research
library setting, particularly in acquisition and cataloging
departments; Familiarity with trends in library technology and ability
to use library technology effectively; Detail-oriented, with
experience working with acquisition vendors and licensing agreements;
Able to manage time and set priorities; Ability to be flexible and
work effectively in a team and in a dynamically changing environment.
Position requires some weekend and evening hours.
Preferred qualifications include: advanced degree in specialization
beyond an MLS and knowledge of collection development issues and trends.
