Subject: Average price of monographs in budgets
From: Paul Staincliffe <stainclp_at_waikato.ac.nz>

Waikato University is looking at models of material allocation budgets.

Currently the Library allocates a dollar amount to each department.
This amount is based in part on the average price of monographs that
the department purchased in the previous year.

In looking at new models based on factors such as EFTS or teaching and
research etc., we have not been able to work out how we can factor in
the average price of monographs. For example the average price in
Chemistry might be $150; in Music it might be $80.

We would welcome suggestions or ideas for factoring an individual
department's average price of monographs into the materials allocation.

Paul
