Collection Development/Reference Librarian: The Francis Harvey
Green Library of West Chester University invites applications for
the tenure-track position to begin August 2006. This faculty
position is a 9-month appointment with some evening and weekend
hours required and additional summer work available. Tenure
and promotion require meeting faculty standards for
scholarship, professional growth, and service. Duties
include: leadership and coordination of collection
development activities and analysis; reference work;
library instruction and subject coordination for
Sociology/Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Educational Services,
and the Honors Program; library liaison to the University
community for issues related to diversity and multicultural
affairs.
Required qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS or its
equivalent; knowledge of collection development tools;
academic collection development experience; demonstrated
effective communication skills; ability to work independently
and collegially in a changing environment. Successful completion
of an on-site interview and presentation.
Preferred qualifications: Knowledge of current and emerging trends
in collection development; knowledge of statistical methods
and analyses, reference and instructional experience; 2nd
Master’s degree or Ph.D.
Starting rank and salary: Instructor or Assistant Professor,
$40,599 - $51,816, depending on qualifications and experience.
