While I was a student at SLIS, I was lucky enough to attend a training
session, from Thomson on the use of ISI Web of Knowledge. It was
mostly intended for the PhD. students, but I came anyway. The tricks
you learn from a good training session are so useful. I'd reccomend
letting the vendors show you their stuff. Make sure they know the
audience so that they can tailor their presentation. I now start most
of my searches for subjects buy building multiple searches into a
history then combining them to narrow the set. Something I didn't know
how to do before the trainer explained the interface for us.
