Wright State University Libraries seek an energetic and innovative 
professional to serve as the head of a newly-created department within the 
University Libraries. Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for 
Collections, the Digital Services Department Head will have the opportunity 
to define the role of this department and to guide the further development 
of digital initiatives in the University Libraries and across the campus.

The Head of Digital Services will participate in the creation of policies 
and procedures for the production and management of digital content; 
perform outreach and communicate information about the Libraries 
digitization and digital projects; investigate preservation strategies; 
assist in the identification and writing of grant proposals geared towards 
the creation of digitization and digital projects; and participate in 
software and hardware selection. This person will supervise staff and 
student assistants responsible for digital production and will report to 
the Associate University Librarian for Collections.


Minimum Qualifications:  Master's degree in Library Science (from an 
ALA-accredited program), public history, computer science or related field; 
minimum two years experience working with digital collections; experience 
creating, capturing, and processing images in a variety of digital formats; 
working knowledge of digital image file formats and software, such as Adobe 
Photoshop, PDF, TIFF, WAV, etc.; knowledge of metadata standards, such as 
Dublin Core, METS, EAD and TEI; experience with digital asset management 
tools; working knowledge of XML, HTML, or other Web-related markup 
languages; experience with web site design and organization; excellent 
interpersonal and communication skills.
