Hello,
I write a short survey column for The Charleston Report, "A
publication written for publishers, vendors, product developers,
merchandisers, and wholesalers who are interested in expanding their
library market." For the upcoming issue I would like to write on how
publishers and vendors can best market their products and services to
libraries. I am including a link to a short survey (seven questions)
on the topic, but I am also listing the questions below if you care to
respond to me via email *(off-list please at kdevoe_at_gmail.com)*. If
you have time, please respond to any or all of the questions and if
you care to add anything feel free, as the purpose of this column is
to find out what librarians think. Your participation is appreciated.

======================
The Questions:
What type of library do you work in?
What specific information, if any, do you look for in publisher
descriptions of new monographic publications?
What specific information, if any, do you look for in publisher or
vendor descriptions of new electronic resources (including e-journals
and/or databases)?
How do you prefer to be contacted by a vendor or publisher?
Do you think that the publisher/vendor communication strategy should
depend on the type of product being promoted?
If so, please explain.
What do you think is the most effective way for a publisher or vendor
to introduce new products to libraries (ie listserv announcement,
direct contact, conference showcase, etc.) ?
Please feel free to provide any other comments/suggestions for
publisher and vendor marketing tactics (ie favorite/least favorite
tactics, etc.)
