Subject: ALCTS Acquisitions Managers and Vendors Interest Group
meeting in San Antonio

From: "Chmelir, Lynn K." <lchmelir_at_wsu.edu>

Please join us for a lively discussion at the ALCTS AS Acquisitions
Managers and Vendors Interest Group meeting in San Antonio. You have
attended these sessions in the past and we think you will be
interested in this discussion too.

Managing the Acquisitions Workflow of Monographs
Saturday, January 21, 1:30 to 3:30, St. Anthony Hotel, St. Anthony Club

Discussion leaders:

Jackie Coats, Head of Monographic Acquisitions, University of
Washington Libraries.

Janet Flowers, Head of Acquisitions, University of North Carolina,
Chapel Hill.

Rick Lugg, R2 Consulting.

Sharon Propas, Fiscal and Data Services Librarian, Stanford University

Challenging economic times and a rapidly changing technological
environment are having a tremendous impact on acquisitions workflows.
Should a box of books coming into your library be seen simply as a
'box of books' or as a 'box of work' requiring expert attention in
different areas and representing significant additional costs? We will
focus on monograph acquisitions and discuss vendor relations,
acquisitions mechanisms (online selecting & ordering, invoicing,
approval plans), and cataloging and processing. We hope this will be a
'lively after-lunch' session!
