Collection Development Librarian,  Northeastern University

Northeastern University Libraries seek an energetic and self-motivated
librarian to take a leading role in their Collection Development team. 
The successful applicant will report to the Associate Dean for 
Collections and Technical Services, and take responsibility for some 
key aspects of the planning and management of collection development, 
including: collaboration with subject collection managers in 
discipline-related projects reviewing and analyzing the collections 
for accreditation and standards; evaluating and trialing new 
electronic and other resources; revising and supervising
the Library's gifts acquisition, weeding and withdrawal programs; 
taking initiative in the development and implementation of a 
Library-wide collection assessment program; supervising student 
assistants. The successful applicant will have strong collaborative 
skills, be able to balance the time-consuming demands of multiple 
responsibilities, and will establish and maintain strong and effective 
ties with book donors and external agents such as publishers and vendors.

Qualifications:  MLS from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent; at 
least two years of experience, preferably in an academic library 
collections or technical services environment; supervisory experience;
spreadsheet/database IT skills preferred. Excellent analytical, 
planning, organizational, supervisory, written, and oral 
communication, and interpersonal skills; must be able to thrive in a 
rapidly changing environment. Strong commitment to diversity. Must be 
energetic, innovative, self-motivated, service-oriented, and 
resourceful, with broad knowledge of print and electronic information 
resources, relevant information technology, trends in academic 
libraries, scholarly communication and higher education.  Refer to
