Cataloger/Metadata Specialist

Responsibilities: The University of Central Florida Libraries is 
seeking a knowledgeable and innovative Metadata Specialist/Cataloger 
to review digital images scanned from a variety of formats; perform 
original and complex copy cataloging for digital images; research any 
facts that need to be included or clarified in the metadata record to 
make the maximum data accessible to the user; and perform other 
cataloging assignments as needed.

Qualifications: Required: Masters degree from an American Library 
Association accredited institution.  Knowledge of AACR2, MARC and 
LCSH. Preferred: cataloging experience with metadata and/or digital 
resource cataloging; knowledge of or experience with Dublin Core and 
standards commonly applied to digital resources; ability to work 
independently and communicate effectively.

Environment: The University of Central Florida is a rapidly growing 
metropolitan university located 13 miles east of downtown Orlando. 
UCF has over 42,000 students, 4,700 employees, and serves a 
metropolitan population of 1.5 million residents. The university 
offers 86 bachelor’s, 68 master’s, and 24 doctoral programs and 
confers about 7,000 degrees a year.  The main library has a collection 
of over 1.5 million volumes and is a partial depository for government 
documents and patents.   The library materials budget is $5.3 million. 
  The staff of 123 includes a library faculty of 47. UCF offers an

Salary and Rank: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. This 
is a twelve-month, full-time non-tenure track faculty position with 
generous health insurance benefits and retirement options.
