ALCTS Scholarly Communications Discussion Group
Monday, June 27, 2005
9:30-11:00 am
Palmer House Hilton, Parlor D
All are welcome and encouraged to attend the ALCTS Scholarly
Communications Discussion Group, to be held Monday, June 27, at the
Palmer House Hilton, Parlor D, from 9:30-11:00 am.
We will be joined in our informal discussion by two emissaries from the
ACRL Scholarly Communications Initiative:
Karen Williams (University of Minnesota), is the author of the recently
launched ACRL Scholarly Communications Toolkit
(http://www.ala.org/ala/acrl/acrlissues/scholarlycomm/scholarlycommunica
tiontoolkit/toolkit.htm). The toolkit is "designed to support advocacy
efforts that work toward changing the scholarly communication system,
and to provide information on scholarly communication issues for
librarians, faculty, academic administrators, and other campus
stakeholders" by providing authoritative summaries, resource lists, and
other tools that can be adapted for local use.
Ray English (Oberlin College), is chair of ACRL's Scholarly
Communications Committee and well known for his expertise in this area.
Our discussions will be followed by a brief business meeting.
We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
