The ALCTS CMDS Collection Development Issues for the Practitioner Interest
Group
will meet Sunday, June 26, from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Palmer House, Sandburg
Room 7.

The CDIP Interest Group is a forum for collection development librarians to
discuss
practical aspects of their work in an informal setting. This year's topics
include:

Budget Allocations: In making budget allocations, collection development
librarians
are implicitly setting goals and objectives and assigning values to various
activities and programs. How do we make these decisions in ways that are
fair and
transparent (if not always popular)? Has the increasing amount of electronic
material changed the way we allocate our funds?

Gifts: Many, if not all, libraries accept gifts of books or other materials for
possible addition to their collections. Questions often arise as to whether
gift
materials are worth the time and effort to process them into the
collection. Are
gifts worth it? If so, how do we manage them cost effectively?

Please join us in Chicago.
