The University of Regina Library invites applications for the position 
of Collection Development Librarian, reporting to the Manager, 
Collection Development.

Position Description:  
·	Serves as a member of the Collection Development Unit 
delivering collection development services in support of the 
University’s academic programs and research.

·	Participates in the management of the Collection Budget.


Duties and Responsibilities:

·	Provides collection identification, assessment and evaluative 
support to faculty and Subject Liaison Librarians.

·	Carries out assigned reviews of the Library’s collection 
ensuring that the intellectual content meets the Library’s mission 
and the needs of the University community.

·	Identifies and compiles collection statistical data in 
support of measurement of library resources and collections required 
for Academic Unit reviews or new course/program initiatives.

·	Provides input into the creation and development of general 
guidelines for the use of electronic resources and their integration 
with other library resources, including recommendations on the 
interface and service considerations.
·	Participates in library-wide and university planning.

Qualifications:
·	MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited program or equivalent.
·	Proven experience related to collection development including 
budgetary analysis.
·	Demonstrated ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative 
data.
·	Familiarity with Canadian, US and foreign publishing industry 
and licensing issues and a thorough understanding of the current trends 
emerging in scholarly publishing.
·	Ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
·	High degree of flexibility, self-motivation, and strong 
organizational and communication skills.
·	Professional library experience in a public services setting 
is an asset.

·	Experience with Microsoft Office suite or other report 
writing and statistical tools is an asset.

·	A working knowledge of a second language emphasized at 
the University of Regina is an asset.



This two-year term position, with the possibility of extension, 
will be filled at a rank and salary commensurate with experience and 
qualifications.  Librarians are members of the University of Regina 
Faculty Association and are encouraged to take part in scholarship, 
research or professional activities.
