Acquisitions Librarian

This is a full-time, permanent position located in the Acquisitions 
Unit, Serial Records Section, Technical Services Division, National 
Library of Medicine. The Serial Records Section is responsible for 
acquiring over 20,000 biomedical serial subscriptions in print, 
electronic and mixed media formats.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties of this position include a variety of acquisitions activities 
for serials in all formats. The position requires knowledge of print 
and electronic serials; and the ability to assess, develop and 
implement technology to promote the successful management of serials. 
Candidates should possess excellent organizational and analytical 
skills, work well in teams both as a member and a leader, and be able 
to work flexibly in a rapidly changing environment and to contribute 
to change.

Specific duties include:

*Creates and maintains records to support the accurate and timely 
acquisition of serials.

*Maintains working relationships with serial subscription vendors and 
publishers worldwide through written, telephone and e-mail communications.

*Resolves and documents solutions to complex order and invoice problems.

*Assists with digital resource management.

*Acts as a resource person for Library Technicians.
