Science Librarian
Position:
The IUP Libraries seeks applicants for the tenure-track position of Science
Librarian at Instructor, minimum salary, $38,269, or Assistant Professor,
minimum salary $44,301, to begin January 2005. The Science Librarian
serves as bibliographer and provides instruction, reference, Web page
development, and outreach services to faculty and students in the

"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />College of Natural Sciences
and Mathematics which includes the departments of Biology, Chemistry,
Computer Science, Geoscience, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology. Offers
service at the Library’s central reference desk as assigned, including
rotating weekends. Promotes information literacy and may teach Library
credit courses.
A second master’s in a subject area or doctorate is required for
tenure. It is a 9-month position with additional summer employment
possible and an excellent fringe benefit package. Salary and Rank are
based upon education and experience.
Qualifications:
Required: An ALA-accredited MLS and an undergraduate or graduate degree in
one of the natural sciences; demonstrated understanding of the information
needs of scientists; demonstrated knowledge of science resources, both
print and electronic; excellent oral and written communication skills;
ability to work successfully in a collegial environment; commitment to
public service; knowledge of Web page construction. Position may require
travel to satellite campuses. In order to become a finalist, candidates
must communicate effectively and perform well during the interview, which
will include a presentation. Preferred: Two years experience in an
academic library. All applicants must be work eligible.
