From: Jewel Eller <ellermjg_at_yahoo.com>
I manage a small county library and we have a
paperback collection and we handle it much like Eva's
library does. We accept donated paperbacks.
We stamp them with the library's name, and shelve them
by genre. We allow patrons to take any number they
want and return them when they want. We do not charge
fines for uncataloged paperbacks. However, we use a
hand stamp to date them (on the back inside cover)for
a two-week period to let the patons know we expect
them to be returned. We, too, scan a 'counter' card
for circulation record.
In rare cases when we have a paperback but no
hardcover of a popular title, we will barcode and
catalog the paperback. Older, more used paperbacks
are added to our book sale.
I will add that the paperback section is very popular
in our library.
Thanks to all for sharing.
