Head of Library Technical Services
North Dakota State University Libraries seeks to fill the Head of
Library Technical Services position . Position reports to the
Associate Library Director, but works both independently and
collaboratively.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: provides leadership for the planning,
development and administration of the Technical Services Department;
manages the selection, training, supervision and development of
departmental personnel; coordinates and evaluates the activities of
the Cataloging and Acquisitions units; overall responsibility for
various NDSU Libraries bibliographic databases; reference desk duty.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree from an ALA accredited
institution required; five or more years library technical services
experience; three or more years experience with staff supervision;
documented effective management skills; experience with an integrated
library system; experience with various bibliographic control systems;
knowledge of the processes and procedures involved with cataloging and
acquisitions operations; excellent communication, interpersonal, and
decision-making skills; strong organizational skills; strong public
service commitment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with the Ex Libris Aleph online
system; experience with system migration; familiarity with an
integrated accounting/acquisitions system; experience with managing
electronic resources; experience with various vendors.
