Pre-Conference Session on the Future of Collections Work in Canadian
Libraries

Registration Deadline Extended to 30 April 2004!


The Collections Development and Management Interest Group would like to
remind you of the pre-conference session entitled "Collecting the
Future" which will be held in Victoria on Wed. June 16, from 8:30 a.m. -
  4:30 p.m.

The keynote speaker is Mike Spinella, the Executive Director of JSTOR.

  In addition, the following papers will be presented:

Library" Ludmila Pospelova, Richardson Public Library, Richardson,
Texas

"Access Guidelines for Atypical Items in Library Collections" Anne
Maureen Hyland, University of Calgary

"Assessing Network Resources" Sebastian Derry, University of Montana

"Buying Your Own: An Analysis of the Holdings of Local 
Faculty-Authored Publications at the University of Calgary Library" 
Andrew Waller, University of Calgary

"Sharing Assessment Strategies: Building a Research Collection at the
University of Calgary" Helen Clarke and Ada-Marie Atkins Nechka,
University of Calgary

In addition, there will be a panel discussion dealing with collection
evaluation, featuring the following participants: Juliet Nielsen
(Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology), Susanne
Barker (Ministry of Forests Library, Victoria, B.C.), Jo Ann Murphy
(University of Northern British Columbia), and Joanne Matthews
(University of Northern British Columbia).

The Interest Group believes that this pre-conference will be a
stimulating event that will be of interest to librarians from a wide
variety of libraries.
