I'd thought about providing a symphony ticket to the faculty
representative that completes ordering first. (We received the
ticket courtesy one of our librarians). I'd like to hear any of your
ideas or incentive programs you've implemented. Thank you.

Rarely a problem here except in rare cases where someone is
ill or overwhelmed with work. We have tried to reduce workload
on faculty book selectors by expanding our approval plans and
our selection slip program. Selection slips tend to come back
fquickly. A few library representatives are interested in
using vendor databases for selection, but I am not sure that
speeds things up for them. We haven't resorted to bribery.

We do not roll unspent balances forward into the new year in
faculty departmental allocations, so it is a "use it or lose it"
opportunity. In one or two cases, reducing the budget allocation
at the beginning of the year to more closely reflect the amount
used the previous year has jolted the department into changing
library representatives.
