1. SITE VISIT OF THE NYAM CONFERENCE CENTER
Constance Malpas, Manager of Digital Initiatives, has made arrangements
for a site visit by Dominic Farace, GL6 Program Director, to the NYAM
Conference Center on February 27, 2004. Farace is scheduled to meet with
Maxine Rockoff, the Director of Information Management, Janice Kaplan,
Director of Library Services, as well as other members of the Grey
Literature Team. Earlier this month, The New York Academy of Medicine
formally agreed to a proposal submitted to them by TextRelease to host
the Sixth International Conference on Grey Literature.
NYAM is one of the foremost-recognized organizations in the field of grey
literature. The Academy Library seeks new ways to offer and enhance access
to quality health information. Today, NYAM looks to initiate and support new
technologies and services that improve the access to health for its wide
audience of researchers, students, Academy Fellows, and the general public.
The Grey Literature Report, a quarterly web-based publication and their
detailed guide to organizations and agencies producing grey literature in
the fields of Health Policy and Public Health are but two examples of this.

2. GREY LITERATURE SURVEY 2004
This survey is held in advance of the Sixth International Conference on Grey
Literature (GL6). The instrument used is an open-ended questionnaire
consisting of twenty-two questions or items designed to compile information
for further analysis. It is not only important to know if a respondent
agrees or disagrees with the questions, but also their comments stand
central. In 1993-1994, GreyNet carried out its first survey on grey
literature. However, within the past decade, due to Internet technology,
grey literature has become a daily work experience in all sectors of society
and constitutes a mainstream, flow of information. An estimated 10-12
minutes of your time will be needed to complete this online questionnaire.
The results will be presented at GL6 and will be made available to all
respondents. http://www.greynet.org/pages/2
3. CALL-FOR-PAPERS, THE HALLMARK OF THE CONFERENCE SERIES
Last week, the first Call-for-Papers was distributed via Listservs and
placed on the conference website. Information professionals who feel drawn
to one of the commended session themes are invited to submit an English
abstract (400-500 words) of their proposed paper. These abstracts must be
received on or before May 15, 2004 in MS Word. The author will receive
written verification upon its receipt. The GL6 Program Committee will use
these abstracts to finalize the Conference Program.
