Reference Librarian, Government Information Coordinator
Georgia Southwestern State University's James Earl Carter Library seeks a
Reference Librarian/Government Information coordinator to develop and
provide a full range of reference and instructional user services. This
position holds faculty rank, tenure track, with a generous benefits
package. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities include: 1) oversight of the government documents
collection and services and maintenance of the standards required by GSW's
status as a partial Federal Depository Library; 2) developing and
participating in an innovative instructional program including general
orientation, for-credit, customized, and outreach courses; 3) online and
database searching; 4) collection development; 5) development of
bibliographic and instructional tools in a variety of formats; 6) reference
desk services including some evening and/or weekend hours; 7) supervision
of the reference/government documents assistant position. Required
Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited program or MLIS program approved
by the Georgia Board of Regents; must have a strong user-orientation, be
flexible and able to work well in a collaborative team environment; strong
oral and written skills; knowledge and familiarity with emerging
technologies; able to work weekend and/or evening hours. Preferred
Qualifications: Reference/user services experience in an academic or
research library; experience in using an integrated online system;
experience with Galileo or a similar consortium. To apply: Submit a GSW
