FIRST, YOU'VE GOT TO GET THEIR ATTENTION!
A DISCUSSION ABOUT BUDGET-REDUCTION STRATEGIES THAT WAKE UP CAMPUS
ADMINISTRATORS (AND THOSE THAT PUT THEM TO SLEEP)
ACRL/ULS CAMPUS ADMINISTRATION AND LEADERSHIP DISCUSSION GROUP
Saturday, January 10, 2004, 11:30-12:30, U.S. Grant Hotel, Horton C
Which budget-cutting tactics are likely to succeed in restoring your
library's financial strength*or at least in shielding it from further
reductions?
* Absorbing cuts internally while protecting your users at all costs?
* Or hitting your patrons and bosses where it hurts by slashing
library services, collections, and building hours?
* And can you really depend upon students and faculty to rally
around your flag?
Join us in a discussion of these issues, lead by David Gleim, Dean of
Auraria Library, University of Colorado at Denver. David recently
completed a survey of budget-cutting strategies used by Colorado
academic library directors. His findings are provocative and are sure
to inspire a lively exchange on these critical questions.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Illinois University; Laurel Minott, Northwestern University Library
