Collection Development Colleagues:
Doesn't it drive you CRAZY when you are sure something
exists--and it might even be in your file cabinet--but you CANNOT
find it??
That's my current predicament. So...here's my plea for help.
I am SURE I read a journal article (a long time ago...)
which suggested allocating purchase funds by SCHOOL (a bigger
chunk of the budget)--instead of by DEPARTMENT. I **believe** the
argument was that the Deans should fight the allocation battles at
their level--especially in light of the increasing amount of
interdisciplinary research and teaching. Traditional department
lines are less relevant??
I have a very clear mental image of this article, but would
really like to see the full printed text again! It could be ten
years or more old...but I've long since learned that those kinds of
estimates are worthless. It seems like it was about the "size" of
_College and Research Libraries_, but don't quote me on that either...
I just don't remember enough (more than I've stated above) to
effectively use _Library Literature_ (but I have done some poking
around there as well).
Can anyone help, or does this vague description ring a bell with
anyone? All I need is a citation--if found, I will return it to
COLLDV-L. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Sincerely,
Andy Stewart
