Collection Manager for the Social Sciences
The NCSU Libraries seeks a collection manager with the primary
responsibility for
managing collections supporting the programs of management, economics,
political
science, public administration, and law. Manages the planning, policy
development, funding, evaluation, and use of library collections in these
subject
areas. Develops and maintains client-focused relationships with faculty,
researchers, and students in these and related disciplines to determine
collection
needs and priorities. Serves on the Humanities and Social Sciences Subject Team
and works with counterparts in the Triangle Research Libraries Network
(TRLN) to
further historically strong cooperative collection development programs.
Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent advanced degree in library of
information science, or Ph.D. in management, economics, political science,
public
administration, or related discipline. Academic background or relevant library
experience in management or an affiliated social science field. Excellent
interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with faculty, researchers,
students, and library colleagues. Ability to work in a highly interactive,
fast-paced team environment. Ability to communicate clearly,
knowledgeably, and
personably, orally and in writing. Knowledge of scholarly communication
issues.
Evidence of ability for ongoing professional development and contribution.
Preferred: MLS degree. Experience in collection management. Salary:
Competitive
and commensurate with experience, minimum $39,000
