CDL: Virtual Collection Development course.

The School of Library & Information Studies at the University
of Wisconsin-Madison will again offer a  popular interactive 
continuing education course via the Internet. This fall Virtual 
Collection Development, September 2 - December 15, 2003, is also 
available for graduate credit. Students can participate at any
time of day, and will receive a password to access our online 
courseware, which provides the means to post assignments, do
readings, and discuss the topics with other students and the instructor.

Course topics:
development of electronic resource collections and comparison
to traditional collection development and management activities
budgeting and licensing selection criteria and selection tools
for online resources and full-text periodical database the role
of free Internet resources organization and delivery of online 
resources the impact of electronic resources on scholarly 
communication new developments and uses of digital materials
misc. topics: copyright, filtering, e-books For more information
