Librarian - Rare Books and Special Collections, Northern Illinois
University.

The NIU Libraries seeks a dynamic, service-oriented leader
for its Rare Books and Special Collections Department. Available 
October 1, 2003; 12-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty 
appointment. Manages Rare Books and Special Collections.

Required: Earned MLS degree from ALA-accredited program or equivalent; 
second master's degree or equivalent for appointment at assistant 
professor level. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, 
staff, students, and general public. Experience in an academic 
library/research institution.

Preferred: Professional experience in an academic library/research
institution, including experience in rare books or special collections
librarianship.  Knowledge of scholarship and bibliography in American
popular culture.  Competence in using computerized resources.
