We only do shelf-ready with YBP with which we have an approval plan. We
have not used slips for a couple of years or so --- use electronic
ordering. We monitor that plan and our shelf-ready books closely and have
from the beginning. The shipments are reviewed by the liaisons and the
records go to our database management crew to make any necessary
corrections. Once in awhile, we will receive a duplicate or an occasional
damaged book. And yes, from time to time, some corrections have to be made
in the records. And periodically we tweak our profile plan usually to cover
new programs not because we've been receiving the wrong thing. We have
other approval plans but this is the only one that we use in this extensive
manner. We find it extremely cost-effective, frees lots of staff time, gets
the books to the users promptly, etc. The problems have been minimal but
the benefits have been tremendous.
