The Library at Carleton College is hosting a cologuium here on our campus
next Wednesday evening entitled "E-Resources, libraries and us: making
decisions at Carleton in the digital age", this colloquium will present
some major trends and issues and then engage the participants in discussion
of a case study.

For the presentation of major trends, it would be helpful to know generally
what percentage of academic library's materials budgets are being taken
up by e-resources. For instance here at Carleton, 17% of our materials
budget is devoted to e-resources which include our full text electronic
databases and electronic journals. When I came here four years ago about
9% of the materials budget was used for A and I electronic databases. The
current 17% represents the results of an aggressive expansion of our
electronic resouces to provide access to full text electronic journals.

Please respond directly to me and I will provide a summary to the list.
