Advancement is more than just promotion.  There is the traditional academic 
career ladder with academic rank and tenure.  Beyond this there are

General scope of work:	

This individual will serve as Director of the Dow Multicultural Resource 
Center (DowMRC), managing its daily operations.  Responsibilities include:

					*	Supporting multicultural curriculum transformation across the campus 
programs advocating the use of multicultural materials in all 
disciplines.  It is a priority of the university to integrate diversity 
content into the curriculum.
					*	Collaborating with K-State librarians to assist all academic 
disciplines with multicultural information acquisition and delivery.
					*	Responsible for specific classroom and research information needs of 
faculty and students of American Ethnic Studies.

Education requirements:	MLS from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent
Requirements Include:	
     *	Ability to develop an instructional support module that would assist 
university faculty in integrating diversity concepts in their course work
	*	Ability to work with staff in a variety of ways (teams, committees) or 
independently
	*	Ability to plan, organize, and implement program and services from 
beginning to successful completion
	*	Interpersonal skills
	*	Ability to pursue activities leading to tenure in KSU Libraries
	*	Training / experience with online, print, microformat, or media 
resources - collection development experience or aptitude
	*	Evidence of leadership
	*	Problem solver - offers solutions to problems
	*	Ability to work with diverse groups, both on the staff and within the 
user community
	*	Proactive with assigned departments (faculty and student) and in 
developing relationships that are collaborative and cooperative
	*	Knowledge, experience, or no fear of emerging technologies
	*	Responsible for subject and course related web pages
	*	Ability to take an issue or project, develop a proposal, build 
consensus, and implement it
	*	Ability to build coalitions among diverse groups, both in the university 
community as well as the community at large
	*	Ability to communicate succinctly, both orally and in writing
