Dear Colleagues,

Back in 1998, I asked the electronic library, virtual library, and
digital library vocabulary questions on Nettrain and Libref-L. I'm
working with the consensus definitions that library folks supplied me
at that time - but I would like very much to review the consensus
definitions with the library community now in 2003. I'm curious if
they have changed. In addition I am adding a query about whether you
use user, patron, or client most frequently in referring to the people
whom your library serves.

I'm sending this new informal survey - Library Vocabulary Survey:
User, Patron, Client: Electronic Library (e-library), Digital Library,
Virtual Library - to several library related discussion lists that I
belong to in addition to Nettrain and Libref-L.

I appreciate any feedback you have time to supply.

The survey is online at-

      http://www.kovacs.com/votelibraries.html .

Please complete the survey only once.

I will compile and report my results to all the lists that this is
posted to. Due to publication deadlines I will continue to collect
and compile until May 31, 2003 and supply you all with that report.

Gratefully,
Di
