New England Technical Services Librarians (NETSL) announces the program for
our Spring 2003 Meeting: Measuring Up: Assessment in Collections and
Technical Services. The meeting will be held on Friday, April 4, 2003, at
the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts.
The keynote speaker is Sheila Intner, (Professor, Graduate School of
Library and Information Science, Simmons College), addressing "Making Your
"Collections Work" Work for You". Sally Grucan (Head Cataloging Librarian,
Wesleyan University Library), is the afternoon speaker; her topic is
"Cataloging Statistics with a Purpose".
There will also be a choice of breakout sessions: 1) "Offsite Storage:
Planning the Move is the Key", by Peter Spitzform (University of Vermont,
Bailey Howe Library); 2) "Weeding: I Know I Should But…", by Beth Mazin
(Memorial Hall Library, Andover, Massachusetts); 3) "A Case of Ample
Statistics: Collection Analysis with ACAS", by Peggy Partello (Keene State
College)and Glenda Lins, (OCLC), and 4) "Using LibQual to Improve Customer
Services", by Marianne Burke (University of Vermont, Dana Medical Library).
Ann Caldwell (Brown University Library) will give a brief presentation
during the lunch period on the work of OLAC (Online Audiovisual Catalogers).
Advance registration is highly recommended for the NETSL Spring Meeting.
Seating is limited to 125 due to parking deck construction at Holy Cross.
