Just last week I sent a thank you email to Haestad Press for the second and
third books in their technical book donation program. We received the first
book last fall. Like you, Julie, the books seemed too good to be true. I
even called to make sure there were no strings attached. Turns out that the
books are just what they are purported: mainstream resources in
engineering. We just received the 5th edition of Computer applications in
hydraulic engineering, published by Haestad. Amazon.com is selling the 4th
edition for $295.00, and there are quotes from two satisfied users of the
book.
Our experience with the publisher has been a straightforward gift program
in which we have benefited with three good books.
Hope this helps.

We are part of the Haestad Press technical book donation program. About
a week ago, we received 2 books:
"Advanced water distribution modeling and management" (ISBN 0971414122),
which retails for $195
"Computer applications in hydraulic engineering" (ISBN 0971414149),
which retails for $295
These prices appear both on their own site and on Amazon. While I
understand that price is not an indication of scholarly value, these
seem to be excellent materials which we are most pleased to have. No
strings attached as far as I can tell.
