From: Sophie Young <Sophie.Young_at_vuw.ac.nz>
This email is directed to senior level Collection Managers in academic and
research libraries in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom
and the United States. We are conducting a research project entitled The
Impact of Digital Information Resources on the Roles of Collection
Managers, and we are asking you to take 10 to 15 minutes to complete a
web-based questionnaire located at:
http://alexandria.fca.vuw.ac.nz/research/cmsurvey/
This research project aims to analyse the extent to which the arrival of
digital information as a major resource in research libraries is affecting
the roles of librarians, archivists and information managers in the area of
professional practice known as collection management. The project has
received funding from Library Collections, Acquisitions and Technical
Services (LCATS) and from Victoria University of Wellington.
The intention of the research is to give collection managers in academic
and research libraries a better understanding of the changing nature of
their role in the overall structure of information services, and a
practice-based appreciation of where collection management effectively sits
within the ranges of services existing in their libraries. This
understanding will permit collection managers to have a more accurate
professional self-awareness, thereby leading to more effective and
efficient services within libraries.
The website for this questionnaire will close down on 28 February, 2003.
