Responsibilities: Provides leadership in planning and implementing
reference/instruction/information literacy services. This position is
responsible for the day-to-day management of Reference activities in the
Ward E. Barnes Library, serving the Colleges of Education, Nursing, and
Optometry. Reporting to the head of the Barnes Library this position
supervises and evaluates the reference librarians and coordinates the
integration of nonprofessional staff into reference services. Participates
fully in the delivery of all reference services, including some evenings and
weekends. Coordinates and participates in library instruction, and
participates in collection development. Ensures the quality and currency of
the reference collection/services in collaboration with reference librarians.
Works collaboratively to create and implement services that respond to the
needs of faculty, students, and participants in distance education courses.
Qualifications: M.L.S., ALA-accredited; minimum of three years professional,
academic library experience, including reference, library instruction, and
supervisory experience; strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral
communication skills.
Highly Desirable: Experience in collection development; working knowledge
of HTML and/or web-authoring tools; ability to foster collegial environment.
Salary: Negotiable, dependent upon qualifications. Minimum: $36,500 plus
excellent benefits.
