We follow both the CREW method and have additional guidelines from our
Southeastern Ohio Consortium. For science books the goal is 5 years, but we
actually do 10 years. We are a public library and get many uses of old
science project
books. CREW can be found on the web, via the dogpile search engine.
Thanks, Marsha Wagner, Rossford Public Library

We are also trying to figure out age guidelines for materials retention. We
have an additional
problem with our engineering collection. Many of the older books have better
graphic
illustrations and more complete explanations of theory and procedures than the
current
15-20 years.
