The Texas Tech University Libraries is currently involved in restructuring
our Information Services Department. This department encompasses reference,
library instruction, and liaison and collection development. Our current
structure is organized by the "functions" listed above with some librarians
specializing in subject areas for the purposes of collection development and
liaison work. The new structure will be organized along subject disciplines
(i.e. social science, humanities, and science and technology).
Right now we are in the process of fleshing-out this new structure, and we
are interested in knowing if any of you have similar organizational schemes
in your Information Services/Public Services departments. If you do, would
you share with us what your organizational chart looks like; how you support
functions like library instruction, reference, and collection development;
and how evaluations are handled?
Please respond to me directly at kara.whatley_at_ttu.edu .
Thank you,
Kara M. Whatley
