Greetings:

Would you like to share your expertise in a specialized area of acquisitions? Would you like to share something new and interesting that you are trying? Are you interested in learning more about key issues in acquisitions? If so, we'd like to invite you to contribute an article to the "Biz of Acq" column in _Against the Grain_. We welcome articles of 1200-1500 words (4 - 5 pages) on a variety of topics.

Discussions oftrends or changesin library acquisitions and collection management, includingissuesrelated to vendors, library systems, orstaff, are of particular interest. Topics we'd like to see discussed include:

--Managing change, including best practices in preparing both users and staff for change.
--Changing user expectations.
--Trends in the development of library acquisitions and serials systems and their impact on libraries
--The changing values of collection management and development, eg. "just in case" vs. "just in time".
--Evolving collection development policies to include new formats(such asas DVD's and electronic books, electronic music, and digital slides).

_Against the Grain, Linking Publishers, Vendors and Librarians_, is a practice-orientated acquisitions journal, published six times per year. Its goal is to provide acquisitions librarians in all types of libraries, and information sellers, with current information on events in the field, and practical insights into acquisitions techniques and processes. The "Biz of Acq" column features discussions of key acquisitions issues by working librarians. Further information on _Against the Grain_ is available at: http://www.against-the-grain.com/.
