Information Strategies 2002

Proposals are invited for papers or panel presentations at the 3rd annual
Information Strategies conference presented by the State University
Libraries of Florida and hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University in
partnership with SOLINET. The conference sessions will reflect the ways in
which information technologies may be used to advance student learning,
scholarly communication, and academic librarianship.

DEADLINES: Proposals will be accepted until Monday, July 1, 2002 (see
submission instructions below). Selected presenters will be notified by
Friday, August 9, 2002. Final papers to be published in the electronic
proceedings are due Friday, November 1, 2002. The conference will be held
November 20  22, 2002 in Fort Myers, Florida

CONFERENCE TRACKS: Proposal topics include, but are not limited to:
Collaboration  Track Leader Diane Brown, SOLINET
Includes partnerships in curriculum design and teaching, e-classrooms,
web-based learning, information literacy, knowledge management, intranets,
and related topics

Communication  Track Leader Carol Turner, University of Florida
Includes intellectual property, e-publishing, copyright, digital collection
management, web-based learning communities, and related topics

Digital Library Services - Track Leader Stephanie Race, Northeast Florida
Library Information Network
Includes virtual reference, web-based services, real-time web interaction,
digital services, standards and assessment tools, and related topics

Innovation  Track Leader Mary Ellen Davis, Association of College &
Research Libraries
Includes portals, wireless technology, security and authentication, web
design, metadata, technology planning, distance learning, online courses,
and related topics

PROPOSAL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE:
* Speaker's name, title, institution, address, phone, and email
* A short vita
* Track selection or statement of relevancy to the conference theme
* Abstract of approximately 250 words
* Indicate individual or panel presentation (45 minute session and 15
minutes for Q&A)
* Audiovisual/ technology requirements

Please email your proposal by Monday, July 1, 2002 to infostra_at_fgcu.edu
<mailto:infostra_at_fgcu.edu> . Proposals will be selected based on clarity,
relevance to the conference theme, and practical application. Selected
presenters will be notified by Friday, August 9, 2002 and will register for
the conference at a reduced rate.

All presenters will be expected to submit a 1000 word summary of the
presentation for publication in the electronic proceedings by November 1,
2002.
