We are just about to have a discussion on barcoding journals in our
library. We shall likely go the route of barcoding only the titles, not
each volume. I would like to hear from libraries (especially those who use
Voyager, but others as well) who have taken this route what equipment they
acquired, procedures they took to implement this, any advice they have, any
difficulties which could have been avoided in retrospect. Thank you.

If you are barcoding to facilitate circulating the journals we (at a very
small library with just a few periodicals) took manila envelopes, barcoded
them, laminated them and we checkout the envelopes on the temporary
barcodes and put the periodical inside. You have to manually enter the
title and volume. We found it note only made it possible to circulate
periodicals with out burning up barcodes, but it kept them in better condition.
