Northeastern University seeks an energetic, creative and self-motivated
individual to join its newly re-energized, service-oriented, and
forward-looking library team, and to fill the newly-created position of
Collection Development Librarian in its Collection Development team.

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Library's Collection
Development Officer, the Collection Development Librarian's
responsibilities will include:

Managing several key areas of the Library's collection development program,
including gifts, exchanges, weeding, withdrawal, and the supervision of
student assistants;
Collaborating with other bibliographers in discipline-related projects
reviewing and analyzing collections for accreditation and other purposes;
Developing and implementing librarywide collection assessment programs;
Participating in collection development and faculty/student liaison;
Coordinating the trial, evaluation and selection of new electronic
information resources;
Establishing and maintaining strong and effective relationships with donors
and vendors.

Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent. At least
two years of experience, preferably in an academic library collections or
technical services environment. Supervisory experience.
Spreadsheet/database IT skills preferred. Scientific background preferred.
Excellent analytical, planning, organizational, supervisory, written, and
oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to thrive in a
rapidly changing environment. Strong commitment to diversity. Must be
energetic, innovative, self-motivated, service-oriented, and resourceful,
with broad knowledge of print and electronic information resources,
relevant information technology, trends in academic libraries, scholarly
communication and higher education.

Salary: minimum $38,000
