To comply with new general accounting principles, we've been asked to
provide a figure for the number of years over which a library collection
depreciates to zero. No matter that the collection is comprised of rare
books, paperbacks, videotapes, microforms, CD-ROMs, and the like -- what
is wanted is a single "magic number" for depreciation. Anyone who has
such a figure for their own collection is encouraged to reply to me
directly. Thanks.
