The issue of how to assess the dollar value of one's collections has come up
before on the list (and I've actually used some of the methods reported).
However, this time I have a bit of a twist on the question of arriving at
a valuation for collections (for insurance purposes):

Does anyone know of *firms* who do this? Those in the Mid Atlantic region
would be the easiest. As a second note, we are looking for two different
types of valuation assessment. One is for a rather specialized music library
(Talbott Library -Westminster Choir College of Rider University) with a fair
number of special collections (papers, scores, a 65K item Single Copy file
of music, another of choral music, choral music in performance quantities,
along with a music book collection). The other is our main library at a
master's level comprehensive small university.

Please reply to me directly, and thanks for any guidance.
